Oregon Short Line Railroad Map

The Oregon Short Line Railroad was a subsidiary of the Union Pacific Railroad, crossing through Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Montana, and Oregon. Original construction began in 1881 in Granger, Wyoming, with the aim of developing a line through Idaho to a junction in Huntington, Oregon (completed in 1884). In 1905, Union Pacific executive E.H. Harriman was invited to tour the Yellowstone region. Following Harriman’s visit, the Union Pacific began conducting surveys to plan construction on a spur line to the area that would later become West Yellowstone, Montana. The line was completed on November 12, 1907, with the first passenger train arriving on June 11, 1908.

Poole Brothers was a Chicago based publishing company and printing house in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The company catered to transportation companies with a strong focus on promotional railroad maps.
